Abstract: Two hundred and fourteen consecutive pregnant attendants at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi, were interviewed about physical and sexual violence against them within the past one year and during the current pregnancy. Thirty- six gave a positive answer to physical violence, giving a physical violence prevalence rate of 16.8% among pregnant attendants at KATH. Sexual vio- lence occurred among three pregnant women giving a sexual violence prevalence rate of 1.4%.
