Abstract
The study examined the relationship between teamwork and organisational efficiency, the moderating role of organisational environment. The sample size of the study was 200 staff from Zenith Bank out of the 350 population size. The study issued the structured close-ended questionnaire to collect the data from the respondents. The study used the SPSS version 21.0 to analyse the data and presented in tables showing the means and standard deviation. The studies showed that teamwork in the organisation such as teams exhibiting clear goals and transparency ensure the flow of work. Also, it was observed that teamwork boost communication among team members and also promotes efficient team meetings. The team members are able to create innovative and problem solving ideas in teams. The study again found out that organisational environment has a significantly positive effect on organisational efficiency. This implies that organisational environment enables and empowers employees. Also, organisational environment provides orientation for staff and again supports communication. The study revealed that organisational environment moderated the relationship between teamwork and organisational efficiency. This can be said that organisational environment is a key variable that controls and impact on the relationship between organisational environment and organisational efficiency. It was finally recommended that management should provide a conducive work environment to support teamwork. Also management should provide orientation for the staff. It was further mentioned that, management should improve the work culture of the organisation
