Abstract
The petrological, geochemical and genetic relationship characterising the Ichiniso bauxite deposits have been examined. Seven litho-Units, segregating into iron-rich and iron – iron varieties, have been distinguished. It is concluded that the bauxite resulted from the removal of Na, K, Ca, silicon and iron by leaching when kaolinitic clays, developed from bedrock, were subjected to varying Eh - pH conditions. Resilication of the low-lying section of the deposit have recognised
