Abstract: The Beijing Platform for Action (P for A) is a topic which cannot be treated in isolation. There is need for some background information to enable one to gain proper understanding of what it is all about. The Beijing P for A came about through the 4th World Conference on Women, herein after called the Beijing Conference. Before then however, there had been 3 previous such conferences.
