Title: | Advancement of Women in the Developing World |
Authors: | Asamoah-Hassan, Helena R. |
Issue Date: | 5-Feb-1997 |
Abstract: | Advancement means improvement which further means that we are agreed that women in the developing world need to improve their status in life. It also means that we are agreed that the existing level of the status of women in the developing world is low and therefore there must be some things preventing women in the developing world to advance to the required level, hence the choice of the topic for discussion.
If a nation is serious about development, making progress in nation building, then it cannot overlook the contributions of women. Females form over 60% of the world population and in Ghana females constitute over 50% of the population. A nation which neglects the development of its women is not serious about effective national development, so there is need to identify issues militating against the progress of women and make efforts towards remedying them for effective national development. |
