Abstract
A study and analysis of contemporary art presents a predominant emphasis of space, an integral
part of sculptural compositions with interest shifting to the inner and surrounding spaces. The
author traces the traditional conceptions of space, the gradual development of conception and
understanding of the use of space in sculpture, through experimental praxis, create a relationship
between mass and space as discussed in contemporary Ghanaian sculpture
