Abstract: In thisstudy,polarization–voltage(P–V)andcurrentdensity–voltage(J–V)measurementswereutilized to investigatetheeffectofnickel(Ni),304austeniticstainlesssteel(SS)andtantalum(Ta)substrate electrodesontheferroelectricphasestabilityofKNO3 thin films.P–VloopsandJ–Vswitchingpeaks were obtainedtosuggesttheintriguingpossibilityofattainingferroelectricphasestabilityinKNO3 filmsbymeansofanappropriatesubstrateelectrode.SSsubstrateelectrodestabilizedtheferroelectric phase toroomtemperature(28 1C) whileNisubstrateelectrodesstabilizedthephaseclosetoroom temperature.Ontheotherhand,Tasubstrateelectrodesseverelydegradedtheferroelectricphaseof the depositedfilms.AstrongagreementwasfoundbetweentheappearanceoftheP–Vhysteresisloop and theoccurrenceoftheJ–Vswitchingpeaksconfirmingpolarizationswitchingtoberesponsiblefor the observedferroelectricpropertiesexhibitedbythethinfilmsamples.
