The Akan people of the Kumasi Metropolitan Area, who form a part of the larger Twi speaking Akangroup of Ghana, are a people with a very rich and varied cultural heritage. This cultural heritage is expressed in various forms. Such cultural forms or elements are clearly seen in the daily lives of the people. The main objectives of this research work were: a) To look at Akan cultural elements which have influenced forms of Christian worship in the Kumasi Metropolitan Area and their impact on the churches. The study also tried to find out whether there are still more Akan cultural elements which could be introduced to enhance Christian worship in the Kumasi Metropolitan Area. Finally, the study was to investigate the outcome of the introduction of further Akan cultural elements into Christian worship in Christian Churches in the Kumasi Metropolitan Area. The main instruments used for the collection of data for this thesis were questionnaire and interviews for primary information as well as the taking of pictures with a digitalcamera and the recording of interviews. The results obtained from the study, indicated that there are still more Akan cultural elements which could be incorporated into Christian worship in the Kumasi Metropolis. However, looking at the experiences of the introduction of some Akan cultural elements into some churches in the Kumasi Metropolitan area, it is obvious that it is not going to be easy trying to introduce more Akan cultural elements into Christian churches in the Kumasi Metropolis, especially, so far asthe Charismatic and Pentecostal churchesin the Kumasi Metropolis are concerned.en_US
