dc.description.abstractThis study was conducted to examine the effect of supplier-buyer relationship on public procurement performance, the mediating role of supplier development with evidence from Ghanaian public sector. Explanatory research design was used. The study employed the quantitative approach to address drafted questions in the study using questionnaires. For this study, the population focused on procurement officers, tender committee members of selected public sector institutions in Ghana. The sample size for this study was 200 was selected. Purposive sampling, a non-probability method, was used in the study to choose the respondents. The data was then analysed using the (spss) software programme after the coding process was completed. Data presentations were done using descriptive statistical tools and the study employed sem in analysis the results. Inferences were obtained from the analysis and policy recommendations were provided. The finding showed that supplier-buyer relationship positively influenced procurement performance and supplier development. The finding showed that supplier development positively influenced procurement performance. The finding also showed that supplier development positively and partially mediates supplier-buyer relationship and procurement performance. The study therefore concluded that management in the firms should help design supplier product and build supplier products using technology during product development in order for customer to depend on the supplier distribution channel, supplier concerns are handled, collaborates with suppliers on medical product design, inter-relationship with suppliers and staffs to deliver product at the right time and at the right quantity.
