Delays, disputes, and cost overruns are the results of poor project communication management. This study aimed to investigate the role of project communication management in maintaining quality and timely delivery of construction project activities. Three objectives were set for this work which are to: investigate the current communication processes in construction projects in Ghana; identify communication barriers and impacts of communication barriers on construction projects; identify effective strategies adapt to overcome communication barriers and the extent these are employed at the project level. The study was a quantitative survey which was based on a population of 60 D1K1 contracting firms out of which 52 were sampled for responses. The instrument employed for data collection was the questionnaires while the responses obtained by using the quantitative data analysis techniques (which include Mean Scores, percentages and frequencies, and others) through the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. Results of the study show that power difference, organizational structure/climate, poor communication skill, lack of co-ordination listeners, poor leadership, unclear communication objectives, obscure channels of communication, and ineffective reporting system are the factors affecting project communication. Designing an appropriate project communication model for project implementation, use of effective project communication to address constructional disputes and its ultimate judgment debts are some of the recommendations of this study.en_US
