Questionnaires were used to survey 96 respondents comprising project managers, architects, quantity surveyors and civil engineers. It was revealed that the roles played by project team members mainly include supervisory, field, administrative and supportive. Challenges encountered by project team member during project execution through communication roles included physical and environmental, linguistics, psychological, social and physiological. Positive impacts via communication roles that affect construction projects comprised project success and delivery, and development of common goals, with contributory factors such as effective project team, better communication channels. Negative impacts on the other hand comprised project delay and failure, poor team performance, with poor communication channels, and insufficient project fund as its contributory factors. The study recommended that communication types and channels should be improved among project team members.
