It is a place where planes land and take-off. The enplaning and deplaning of passengers and for goads to be loaded and of f loaded, and also for planes to be serviced. At the beginning of aviation history, when it was known as an aerodrome the only function it performed was the provision of landing strips and storage space for aircrafts. With the growing importance of air-transportation, the airport has grown to become a complexity of elements which together act as an infrastructure for air-transportation. It also provides certain business and social services such as banking, shopping; postal facilities, in very modern facilities, swimming pools discotheques and playing grounds (mosques etc.) can be found. They also serve as a place of interest for site seeing. The airport has grown to a point where it is now a micro settlements which has to be considered in relation to its total environment.
