    The Development of Software for Maintenance Management in the Hospitality Industry (Case Study Golden Tulip Kumasi City Hotel)

    The objective of this study was to develop a maintenance management information system for the hospitality industry. The Golden Tulip Kumasi City Hotel was used as a case study. The software consists of an asset classification module which places assets into a tree structure for easy identification. Along with this module is a room number generator and locator for the assets. The software also catalogues a list of staff capable of maintenance services together with their working shift time table. At the core of the software are the planned maintenance module, which is the responsibility of automatically processing preventative maintenance routines, and the unplanned maintenance module with which staff can report of assets that need maintenance outside regular schedules. The software then suggests a list of capable staff from which the maintenance administrator can choose from. If desired, the software is also able to automatically dispatch work orders to staff based on fair distribution of work load. The final module tracks the history of the assets, which enables management to make informed decisions on the assets. The project uses client-server architecture and is designed to work in a computer network environment.
