Abstract
Water base paint was manufactured by using local clay and local lime as extender in place of imported ones. Three different clays from Moseaso, Abompe and Kwahu Nsaba, and local calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and local Calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH)2) from BRRI Kumasi were used with two different formulations to manufacture water-base paint.
The properties of the different formulation of the paint manufactured such as pH, viscosity, specific gravity, drying time, fineness, durability, brushability, flow and hiding power were determined.
It was observed that local clay and local calcium carbonate (CaCO3) may be used as extenders in water-base paints.
