The effect of green procurement on firm performance; the moderating role of green information systems

Abstract
As the starting point for reducing environmental pollution, green procurement is a critical process for the management of the green supply chain. In fact, rather than being a costly inconvenience, environmental initiatives have become a source of competitive parity. The study focused on examining the moderating role of green information systems in the link between green procurement and firm performance. Specifically, the study sought to examine the relationship between green procurement and firm performance; investigate the association between green information systems and firm performance; examine the moderating role of green information systems on the relationship between green procurement and firm performance. The correlational research design was used. A quantitative research approach was adopted for the study. The purposive sampling techniques were used to select 75 firms as the sample size. The study relied on a questionnaire as the primary data collection instrument and further employed SPSS version 25 to test all formulated hypotheses. The findings from the study indicate that there is positive relationship between green procurement and firm performance. The study also found that there is a positive relationship between green information systems and firm performance ce. Again, the study found that green information systems positively moderate the relationship between green procurement and firm performance. The study further recommends that managers should actively adopt and implement green procurement practices within their organizations. These practices should prioritize environmentally friendly sourcing of materials, products, and services, which not only contribute to sustainability but also enhance firm performance.
