| dc.description.abstract | Projects in any form require project goals or objectives that set the directions for the entire project from start to finish including time constraints. Delayed projects generate risky, complex, and costly problems, and negatively affect parties or stakeholders. In that, a compensation is somewhat sought from the defaulter. This study sought to assess project management practices in avoiding project delays in the Ghanaian Construction Industry. Research questionnaires was designed to solicit responses from 96 respondents made up of project managers in the Construction Institution, Ministries, Associate bodies, Real Estates, and Construction Firms in both public and private sectors. The study revealed that the best project management practices that organization in the construction industry practice included the use of standardized software; development of competencies of staff, mentoring and coaching plans, roll out of Project Management Office (PMO) functions, and assessment of skills of staffs. Again, factors that ensure that project are successfully managed comprised sufficient financial support, availability of human resources, technology advancement, and adequate logistics. The impacts of project management practices on projects comprised building mutual trust or relationship, client satisfaction, project completion and delivery, and economic development. The project management process groups, that avoid project, delay project closing, project planning, project monitoring and controlling, projecting start or initiation, and project execution. It was recommended that, Project Managers, should inculcate into projects all Project Management practices in order to avoid projects delays and achieve a successfully project completion. | en_US |
